Ajarn Patima has achieved a master degree in International Tourism and Hospitality Management in Griffith University in Australia. Afterwards, she worked in the field of marketing and brand management in Bacardi, Thailand which is the global company that develops food and beverage products in a local context. She also has three years of working experience as a flight attendant in one of Japan’s airlines. However, after ten years of working as a brand consultant in Bangkok, she moved to Chiangmai, which she calls a “peaceful city,” to take a different role as an educator. Her “know-how” in the marketing industry provides insights for her students to become successful operators of small businesses, particularly in a tourism sector. She highlights the fact that Chiangmai is the hub for elderly tourists with its own competitive advantages compared to other regions in Southeast Asia. She says that as Thai society is experiencing a demographic change where this age group is expanding beyond 30% of the population, thus her research interest lies is consumer behavior in the aging society, especially the elderly-care facilities and long-stay tourism for retired seniors residing in Northern Thailand.
She started teaching at Payap from 2014 and advises people seeking to work in the hospitality industry to have a keen eyes on an emerging tourist groups and encouraging ways to make their trips more sustainable. In her free time, she enjoys cycling around Doisaket and loves spending time with family.
